and practical exercises on a wide range of stock thereafter.
The courses are presented by fully trained
MLCSL personnel with liveweight/deadweight experience.
Course Venue
Courses can be held on farm, at auction
markets, in abattoir lairages (where suitable premises are
available) or conducted in a mix of live and deadweight
venues.
Suitable penning and race facilities
are used to ensure stock welfare and contribute to each
participant's learning and health and safety.
Stock Availability
A range of sheep and cattle breeds and
condition are used to ensure participants gain maximum benefit
from the course.
Ideally 4 or 5 cattle/sheep are initially
used to demonstrate standards.
Individual carcase weight assessment
can be included in the exercise provided that suitable accurate
weighing equipment is available for the livestock.
